CFS Manitoba Provincial Executive Orientation

Provincial Executive Orientation

9:00 a.m.

Introductions and Overview:

Introductions will be made and an overview of the day provided. Members will be asked to complete information sheets

Rights and Duties:

The statutory duties and rights of members of the Provincial Executive Committee, as well as the policies of the Federation, will be reviewed.

Labour Management:

Staff working for the Federation are covered by collective agreements negotiated by the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Locals 1281 (national staff) and 3909 (provincial staff. The provincial Executive Committee serves as Management for provincial staff. Labour management rights, responsibilities and practices will be discussed.

Campaigns and Government Relations:

The Executive Committee coordinates the implementation of provincial and national campaigns and government relations will take place.

Lunch

Participants will eat lunch together (location to be determined)

Communications and Reporting: Guidelines:

Protocols and suggestions for reporting and communications among members of the provincial Executive Committee, Federation will be reviewed.

Membership Development:

There are five member local associations in Manitoba. Membership issues in the province will be discussed.

Financial Issues and Federation Services:

The Executive Committee is responsible for the management of the provincial budget and finances and the implementation of national and provincial services. An overview of the Federation's services, budget, financial procedures, and expense reimbursement policies will take place.

Upcoming Events and Meetings:

A proposed schedule of provincial Executive Committee meetings meetings and important upcoming events will be discussed. Members of the Provincial Executive will be appointed to various committees of the Federation’s Coalition Partners.
